FORWARD
Prayer, especially the rosary, has become a central part of my life the last few years. I have been praying a scriptural rosary which has quotations from scriptures before each Hail Mary bead. These scriptures collectively tell the story of each mystery. This method is very helpful for thinking about the events in the life of Jesus and Mary, but I found it very hard, if not impossible, to think about how I could imitate their virtues and apply them to my daily life while saying this rosary.
It occurred to me that what I needed was a second scriptural rosary. This rosary would have scriptural quotations about the most notable virtue demonstrated by Jesus and/or Mary for each incident/mystery in their lives. Since I couldn't find such a rosary anywhere, I wrote this one.Writing this rosary and then praying it through crises, big and small, has helped me to feel closer to my God.
I pray that all those who use this rosary will similarly be drawn closer to God.

HOW TO PRAY THIS SCRIPTURAL ROSARY
FOR ONE PERSON
As you start each decade, think about the significance of the mystery
in the lives of Jesus and Mary; picture this event in your mind.
Next, say the short prayer to Mary asking her to pray for you so that
you might obtain the virtue that this decade represents. As you say
the Our Father, picture Mary presenting your prayer to the Father.
See Our Father smile with the pleasure of granting a worthy request.
Know in your heart that the Father has granted your request even as
you see it happen in your mind.
Then read the short scriptural quotation before praying the first
Hail Mary. Let the meaning of these words soak into your mind as
you pray the first Hail Mary.
Continue in this manner for the rest of the beads in the decade.
FOR TWO OR MORE PEOPLE
The same meditation techniques suggested for one person can also
be used for two or more persons.
Additionally, the prayers and scriptural quotations have been
divided into two parts so they can be used as an alternating prayer.
The first person or the group leader can recite the first part and
the second person or the rest of the group can respond with the
second part. The division between the two parts is marked by a
slash mark (/).

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit./
Amen.
APOSTLES CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into
hell; the third day he arose again from the dead; he ascended into
heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from
thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead./
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Universal Church, the
communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the
body, and life everlasting.
Amen.
OUR FATHER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom
come; thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven./
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as
we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into
temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
HAIL MARY (Three times)
Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou
among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus./
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour
of our death.
Amen.
GLORY BE TO THE FATHER
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit./
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without
end.
Amen.
FATIMA PRAYER
O my Jesus! Forgive us our sins;
Save us from the fires of hell./
Lead all souls to heaven, especially
those in most need of thy mercy.

Good and upright is the Lord;
thus he shows sinners the way./

he teaches the humble his way.
(PS 25:8-9)
Hail Mary
For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing,/
he is deluding himself.

Humble yourselves before the Lord/

Hail Mary
He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and

Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest

Let him show his works by a good life in the humility that
comes from wisdom.

Hail Mary
This is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning,/
in which you should walk.

So faith, hope, love remain, these three;/
but the greatest of these is love.

Hail Mary
Do to others whatever you would have them do to you./
This is the law and the prophets.

3. THE NATIVITY [Prev] [Next] [Top]
Prayer:
O Dear Mary, please pray to God for me that I might
always keep my eyes and heart focused on my heavenly
home and always put the love of God and the practice
of virtue ahead of acquiring earthly possessions./
Amen.
Our Father
I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you out of the land
of Egypt, that place of slavery./
You shall not have other gods besides me.
(EX 20:2-3)
Hail Mary
You shall not carve idols for yourselves...you shall not
bow down before them or worship them./
For I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God.
(EX 20:4-5)
Hail Mary
Therefore, whoever wants to be a lover of the world/
makes himself an enemy of God.
(JAS 4:4)
Hail Mary
Do not love the world or the things of the world./
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not
in him.
(1 JN 2:15)
Hail Mary
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world/
yet lose or forfeit himself?
(LK 9:25)
Hail Mary
So do not worry and say, 'What are we to eat?' or 'What
are we to drink?' or 'What are we to wear?'/
But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given you besides.
(MT 6:31,33)
Hail Mary
Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they
gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds
them./
Are not you more important than they?

moth and decay destroys, and thieves break in and steal./
But store up treasures in heaven...For where your treasure
is, there also will your heart be.
(MT 6:19-21)

other./

(MT 6:24)
Hail Mary
Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of
itself./
Sufficient for a day is its own evil.

5. THE FINDING OF JESUS IN THE TEMPLE [Prev] [Top]
Prayer:
O Dear Mary, please pray to God for me that I might
always be truly sorry for my sins, not only because
they hurt me, but also because they wound the
Sacred Heart of Jesus and your own Immaculate Heart
and can cause me to lose Jesus. O dear Mary, if I
ever do lose Jesus through my sins, please help me
to look for him in the right places./
Amen.
Our Father
If you, O Lord, mark iniquities,
Lord, who can stand?/
But with you is forgiveness,
that you may be revered.
(PS 130:3-4)
Hail Mary
Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;
in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense./
Thoroughly wash me from my guilt
and of my sin cleanse me.
(PS 51:3-4)
Hail Mary
There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents/
than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of
repentance.
(LK 15:7)
Hail Mary
For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,/
abounding in kindness to all who call upon you.
(PS 86:5)
Hail Mary
A clean heart create for me, O God,
and a steadfast spirit renew within me./
Cast me not out from your presence,
and your holy spirit take not from me.
(PS 51:12-13)
Hail Mary
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,/
for they will be satisfied.
(MT 5:6)
Hail Mary
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;/
knock and the door will be opened to you.
(MT 7:7)
Hail Mary
As the rising sun is clear to all,/
so the glory of the Lord fills all his works.
(SIR 42:16)
Hail Mary
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and
you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked
and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison
and you visited me./
Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least
brothers of mine, you did for me.
(MT 25:35-36,40)
Hail Mary
Be still,/
and know that I am God.
(PS 46:10 KJV)
